The author shows some concerns about receiving no reply to the letters he had sent before, and comments on the state of the application to increase his salary.

José de Saldanha was accused of bigamy, having married in Brazil with D. Ana Joaquina Tomásia while is first wife, D. Mariana Efigénia da Fonseca Pereira, was still alive, living in Lisbon. The defendant argued that he did not knew about his marriage with Mariana Efigénia. According to him, she misused some letters of attorney to get married to him without his consent. Mariana Efigénia, however, had three love letters that the defendant wrote to her, and presented them in court. The process does not contain informations about any sentence.
