In English | Anonymous letter sent to António Germano da Veiga, the Lisboan Police Superintendent. The author complaints about several assaults on the house of the family of a political prisoner. He points out to a number of suspects: the occupiers of a nearby house where prostitutes are taken to by several men and guitars are played until late in night, and also an individual, an army defector. While Dr. José da Cruz Xavier, a political prison, was in jail, his family house was assaulted several times. The wife, Dona Maria Genésia da Maia e Gama testified against a gipsy woman, some Galicians, and two subjects wearing army coats. Finally, an army defector was found guilty and sentenced to five years in India. |
