Letter from Antonia Gutiérrez to his son, Agustín Pacheco, barber and surgeon.

The author offers his son Agustín Pacheco help and advice. It also informs him about the heavy rains which have fallen.

The defendant in this process for bigamy was Agustín Pacheco, a barber, surgeon and valet from Tordesillas (Valladolid) and resident in Seville. Agustín Pacheco had married for the first time in Barcelona with Raimunda Tomás and a second time in Seville with Rosalía Ramírez. In order to be able to get married the second time, he claimed that his first wife had died and paid two witnesses to swear that he was single. Agustín Pacheco sought authorization to be absent for six months and never appeared again, so the process remained incomplete. The informer was his second wife, Rosalía Ramírez, who handed over to the tribunal the letters written by Antonia Gutiérrez (PS6001), mother of the accused, and by María Pacheco (PS6002), sister of the accused.

y por lo que mir a ti deliberada determinazion si es tu gusto azes muy bien mas ago juizio en tu corto talento te dirara muy poco en fin aora enpiezas desde aqui a dos o tres as as menester estar con asiento si entonzes su magestad me lo diere y tu determinares prosegir con ese ditamen berere si te puedo ayudar con algo mas segun estan las cosas mas me aplico que yremos a menos que a mas en fin el tienpo nos dira lo que a de ser aplicate tu y trabaja se birtuoso y onbre de bien que su magesta te remediara aora en cuanto a las fatalidades an sido ziertas fue azia las montañas de un dilubio muy grande se aruynaron algunos lugares murio mucha gente azia astorga fue piedra los ganados mayores y menores fenezieron aquella tiera se libro la gente en nuestro pays a bido muchas tenpestades a quitado mucho fruto estamos trabajosos luego muchos soldados un regimiento se ba otro entra aora esta el regimiento de franzia ni dejan a los bezinos con paja zebada piedra para los cuarteles ni reserban biudas ni pobres que no los azen contribuir con todo en fin no se puede ponderar los trabajos que padezemos no me pareze se me ofrece otra cosa si solo de los bezinos mil memorias nuestras las tomaras a tu medida y con esto zeso y no de pedir a mi Dios te me guarde los dilatados a que deseo tordessillas otubre 13 de 1736
