In English | Promise letter from Dom Duarte, the king's natural son, to his mother, a former chamber servant in the royal court. The author promises his mother to employ the son of the royal treasurer when he has obtained the king's permission, but not before that. Dom Duarte de Portugal was the natural son of King John II and Dona Isabel Moniz, a chamber servant of John's mother, queen Dona Leonor. Dom Duarte was raised as a religious man and was due to be the archbishop of Braga, but he died before that.
