Letter from Teresa Antónia to a non identified woman, the wife of the surgeon João Pereira.

The author asks the addressee to talk to her husband and make him intercede on behalf of an innocent man.

Luís da Silva was arrested under the accusation of attempted rape and infanticide. Clara Maria, the woman who accused him, was pregnant at the time and she lost the twins she was expecting when she was allegedly assaulted. In the end, Clara Maria's husband wrote a Term of Pardon and Luís da Silva was set free.
