1820. Carta de Manuel Pereiro, escribano, para Simón de Verea y Abellón, capellán.

Autor(es) Manuel Pereiro
Destinatário(s) Simón de Verea y Abellón
In English

Letter from Manuel Pereiro, a law oficial, to Simón de Verea y Abellón, a chaplain.

The author elaborates about all what he perceived in money and gain. Besides, he asks for permission to pay him certain quantity of money in two instalments.

Following a lack of payment, this litigation began in 1822 between Simón de Verea y Abellón, a resident of Mondoñeno (Lugo), and Manuel Pereiro, a resident of Santiago de Compostela (La Coruña). There were two chaplaincies in the archbishopric of Mondoño that belonged to Simón de Verea y Abellón, a chief of chaplains, and were administrated by Manuel Pereiro. Simón de Verea y Abellón prosecuted Manuel Pereiro for the debt of 2301 reals and 22 maravedis in money and gain received in his chaplaincies. In order to prove this debt existed, the plaintiff provided this letter. Manuel Pereiro argued that the debt was already paid. Besides, it was pointed out during the trial that it was the plaintiff who owed him certain quantity of money when the defendant provided several receipts.
