Request letter from João Simões de Carvalho, prior judge of Alquerubim, to his godfather, Onofre Ribeiro da Silva, commissioner of the Inquisition.

The author asks his godfather to intercede in favor of a priest, who he says is innocent.

Joaquim Martins Linhares was accused of perjury by the Inquisition, for having participated, with Manuel Gonçalves Dias, in the denouncement of a priest, who other people guarantee is innocent. This letter says that the two men, who also forced two women to report some false facts about the priest, denounced the priest because they hated him.
