Love letter from María Antonia Gimbernat to Leonardo Galli.

The author regrets the ailments suffered by the recipient and assures him that, although she also suffers, she is not going to stop writing letters to him.

María Antonia Gimbernat, daughter of Don Antonio Gimbernat, honorary surgeon, had promised Leonardo Galli, surgeon of the Royal Spanish Guards, that she would marry him. Her father, however, opposed the realization of that union. She finally gave in to family pressure and returned to the family home. At that time, Leonardo Galli demanded the fulfillment of her word, and to prove the link between them presented eleven letters written between April 3 and June 6, 1782. In these letters the intentions between the couple are quite clear, as well as her determination to marry him. During the process, María Antonia tried to deny the letters and, since she could not prove she did not write them, she stated that she had been entrapped to do so.

Mi querido amado esposo de todo mi corazon he recivido tu tan amorosa carta siento mucho lo que me dices que todos los dias tienes gran dolor de caveza lo mismo me suseda a mi mayormente oy y que por este motivo no puedo escrivir mucho pero por eso no dejo ni degere nunca de quererte ya concidero mi Leonardo esteras mui triste y por las cosas que te diran todos esos que intentan estorvar nuestro vuen fin y por ver que tus gentes estan contra nosotros asta Don Francisco lo que me estraño mucho y no lo avria creido nunca pero por eso Hijo mio no te afliges qu el favor de Dios no nos faltara y mientres este no nos falta poco importa que los de este mundo nos faltan el jues ya a señalado dia ques el vi para ver nuestro pleyto esto sera el viernes Dios quiera que salga vien ya entregare la carta a Do Jorge quien me enseño tu carta y le lei y me gusto si vas en tarragona de ningun modo no enseñes ninguna carta mia ni digas nada g de lo que yo te escrivo porqe el otro dia me dijo el amo que padra le avia dicho que yo escriviria porque tu as dicho en Barcelona que me avia venido a vlar un padra de sn felipe y que me trajo 4 cartas por eso piensen que te escrivo yo lo he negado ciempre tu as lo mismo y si Don Francisco te lo pegunta niegalo y no temas sus amenas amenases ni agas caso de lo que te diga Ballaste aDios y aDios no puedo escrivir mas
