1829. Carta de Gertrudes Ferreira para Anacleto José Coutinho, proprietário.

Author(s) Gertrudes Ferreira
Addressee(s) Anacleto José Coutinho
In English

Private letter from Gertrudes Ferreira to Anacleto José Coutinho, owner.

The author threatens her landlord with a scandal, if he does not meet her demands.

Anacleto José Coutinho, newly arrived from Brazil, was the landlord of Gertrudes Ferreira and her son, Manuel Joaquim Ferreira de Oliveira, and accused them of not wanting to leave the house that he had rented them, of threatening him, and of calling him the "spotted". Although mother and son owed 124,800 reis to the landlord, he ended up giving them 15 coins for them to leave him in peace. Both letters included in the process prove the demands made by Gertrudes Ferreira.
