In English | Letter from Eusebia Morante to her husband Simón Pérez Cahamaño (Gachupín), cigar maker. The author asks her husband, Simón Pérez Cahamaño, to return to Spain to stay with her and their son. The defendant of this process was Simón Pérez Cahamaño, a cigar maker from Santiago de Compostela (Galicia) who lived in Mexico City. He was accused of the crime of bigamy for having contracted two marriages: in 1730 he had married Eusebia Morante, with whom he had a son, in Cádiz, and in 1734 he had married Micaela del Rosal in Mexico City. The letter transcribed here was handed over by Juan Antonio Frutos, a friend of the family of Eusebia Morante. |
