In English | Letter from José García y Eiríe to Francisco Blanco de Losada. The author writes to Francisco Blanco de Losada, informing him about his master´s arrival in Santiago and describing how it rained along the way. The defendant in this process is Jacinto Varela de Losada, a native to San Miguel de Olla (Vigo) and a resident in Pontevedra. Juliana Blanco and her husband, José Benito Sanchez, from Pontevedra, accused Jacinto Varela de Losada of the misappropriation of 425 ducats from Francisco Blanco de Losada and Francisca de Ulloa´s inheritance. Francisco Blanco de Losada was the brother of Juliana Blanco and the defendant. The defendant appropriated the money despite the fact Juliana Blanco was the rightful heir, as stated in the deceased´s will and testament. This letter was not provided as a proof to the process, but it was found by chance in the verso of a receipt signed by the plaintiff which reads as follows: "I received from Don Jacinto Varela de Losada one hundred and fifty reals of fleece, which I will deduct from your account. Pontevedra, April 16th 1716. José Benito Sánchez" (fl 7r). |
