In English | Letter of Francisco Lorenzo Tricio, a soldier who was imprisoned, to his brother Marcos Lorenzo Tricio. The author informs his brother Marcos that he has been imprisoned in Arrúbal (La Rioja), and instructs him to forge a document which would prove that his desertion was pardoned. Francisco Lorenzo Tricio, soldier, was accused of having deserted from the Toledo Infantry Regiment, placed in Vigo, trying to run away to Portugal, in 1770. To defend himself, he declared to possess a royal reprieve, which, however, he could not show because, as he said, it was in the house of his brother, Marcos Lorenzo Tricio. Eventually, Francisco Lorenzo Tricio escaped from the royal prison of Arrúbal (La Rioja), where he was imprisoned. A prosecution was commenced against Tomás de la Torre, bailiff and chief gaoler of Arrúbal prison, in order to establish if he had helped Francisco Lorenzo Tricio escape. Eventually, it was considered that he had just been negligent in his office. This letter was handed over by Marcos Lorenzo Tricio, along with other documents of his brother. |
