In English | Letter from Juan Palacio, notary and «familiar» of the Spanish Inquisition Tribunal, to Pedro Martínez, surgeon. The author writes to express his disagreement with the contracting of Pedro Martínez as the new doctor of La Almolda (Zaragoza). The accused in this process was Juan Palacio, notary and «familiar» of the Spanish Inquisition Tribunal. In 1616 he had been accused by the Inquisition tribunal of Zaragoza of being the responsible of various altercations with the authorities and residents of La Almolda (Zaragoza), some of which had degenerated into aggression. He was also accused of being the author of various booklets and satirical leaflets, of abusing of his position and of forgery. The letter to Pedro Martínez, surgeon, was handed over by the addressee and joined to the proceedings as a proof. Eventually, Juan Palacio was reprehended and he was ordered to maintain good relations with the authorities and residents of La Almolda. |
