Addressee(s) | Anónimo445 |
In English | Letter from Juan Germán, member of the Holy Office, to an unindentified addressee. The author instructs the addressee to go to Cetina with the boy who brings the letter, by night in order not to be seen by anybody, because that is a secret business that nobody must have knowledge of. In 1578, Juan Germán was accused of illegal irrigation by Juan Fernández de Heredia, lord of the town of Cetina and landowner, and Juan de Fonseca, a jury in the same town. They accused him of takin water to irrigate his land without having the right to do it, because his propriety was not registered in the irrigation. This fact brought Juan Germán to fight with various people, and to promote the rebellion of the vassals of Cetina against their lord. The process was not concluded, due to the death of the accused. |
