In English | Letter from Leandro, a friar, to Domingo Andrés, the mayor of the village of San Asensio (La Rioja). The author confirms to Domingo Andrés the delivery of six ducats to a Pedro Jiménez and lets him know about other matters. This litigation between Diego de Echevarría, a barber-surgeon, and Domingo Andrés, the mayor of the village of San Asensio (La Rioja) ensued from a quarrel and the accusation against Diego de Echevarría of having opened and hidden certain letters at the post office branch. In order to defend himself from the aforementioned accusation, Diego de Echevarría delivers this letter (PS6226). The signature of Juan de Arandia Mendiola, a law official, is on the envelope to attest the letter was handed closed. In this regard, on the process documentation reads as follows: "In the litigation between Diego de Echevarría and Domingo Andrés, and regarding the accusation against Diego de Echevarría of having taken letters from the post office branch. So that it is retained here, those letters that supposedly had been opened already, were actually opened in front of the plaintiff, and this letter addressed to Domingo Andrés and signed in the back and sent by Juan Arandia, a law official [...] from the village of San Asensio, therefore, it was never opened." |
