The author shares his suspicions about a man, Belchior Aranha, who had already been convicted for witchcraft. He was apparently practicing his 'arts' again. The pharmacist Belchior Aranha, living in the region of Lamego, was accused by a priest of practicing witchcraft to cure the accuser's gout. He was convicted and sent to exile in Faro for two years. |
