In English | Private letter from Bartolomeu dos Mártires, religious man, to an unidentified addressee. The author writes to inform the whereabouts of another religious man, in response to a previous request. The friar António Pereira, a religious man from the Carmo Order, had already been expelled from his congregation when he was accused of heretical propositions, and sodomy, by the Holy Office. The events took place in the convent of the Carmo Order in Lisbon, in May 1618, in the presence of the priests Francisco Barradas and João de Sousa. The letter contained in the proceedings attests the inquiries done to contact the witnesses. |
