In English | Letter from Isabel de Acebedo, a widow, to Lorenzo Carballo Osorio, a nobleman. The author invites her lover to visit her that night to take advantage of the opportunity of being together, asking him to send word so that she can leave the door opened. The litigation was the initiative of Jerónima de los Ríos, a resident of Ponferrada, following an accusation of rape and consequent pregnancy of her daughter, Isabel de Acebedo. The two letters in the proceeding documentation were provided by Lorenzo Carballo´s lawyer, who alleged the defendant was underage and therefore he denied the charges, since there was not a marriage promise. He also stated it was Isabel de Acebedo who insisted in the sexual encounters. Lorenzo went to jail in the Chancery and he was condemned to marry Isabel. After the wedding, they both applied for his release from prison. |
