No processo de Estêvão de Torres, encontram-se três cartas suas em francês e as respetivas traduções, ditadas pelo próprio por ordem dos inquisidores e registadas nas atas das sessões de interrogatório. Estêvão de Torres, residente havia dez anos em Portugal, foi preso pela Inquisição a 19 de setembro de 1549, acusado de comer carne durante a Quaresma e outros dias defesos e de crer e proferir afirmações consideradas heréticas. Em novembro de 1549, fugiu do cárcere com outros presos e tentou, sem sucesso, contactar um seu compadre, Mestre Gascão. Em Vale de Cavalinhos (Vale de Santo António, perto da Bica do Sapato), pediu uma capa emprestada a um castelhano, entregando como penhor uma "boeta" ("caixa") com pedras. Ao fim de dois dias de fuga, foi descoberto e de novo preso. Da prisão, escreveu estas três cartas à mulher, Ana "A Castelhana": a PSCR1149 foi, provavelmente, escrita antes da fuga e as PSCR1150 e PSCR1151, seguramente, após ser de novo preso.

The author tells his wife how to conceal within a bread pot the letters she will send him in prison. He also gives instructions on how she must answer any questions about him eating meat and not fish: she must tell he has a digestive problem with fish.

There are three letters in French and their Portuguese translations in the Inquisition proceedings against Estêvão Torres, a French jeweler and stone cutter from Tours. He himself dictated the translations to the notary when he was interrogated. Estêvão Torres was living in Portugal for ten years when in 1549 he was arrested under the accusations of eating meat during Lent and other forbidden days and of having a heretical discourse. He escaped with other prisoners and went free for two days because he traded a box for a cape from a Castilian he met. He was then rearrested. From prison, he wrote these three letters to Ana his Castilian wife: PSCR1149, PSCR1150, PSCR1151.
