Private letter from an unidentified female author to an unidentified addressee

The author gives detailed information about the marks found on the body of a defendant, a nun that the Inquisition was accusing. The marks belonged to the religious iconography.

This letter was found in the Inquisition file of Ana Rodrigues, a professed nun from the Third Order of Saint Francis. She pretended having revelations and she simulated stigmata in her body, later admitting that she had done them herself. In a processual note, there is a detailed description of the location of the signs and figures in Ana Rodrigues's body, which was obtained using a wax mould. The first mould revealed the name of Jesus; the second one a Christ in the cross and the third one a beautiful cross.
