[1600-1603]. Carta de Luís Falcão, jurista, para Manuel Pais Bonicho, tabelião.

Author(s) Luís Falcão
Addressee(s) Manuel Pais Bonicho
In English

Warning letter sent by Luís Falcão, a man of law, to Manuel Pais Bonicho, a notary.

The author warns the addressee that what is being said about the briberies received by a judge seems to be entirely true.

A judge was accused of bribery by the New Christians of Aveiro, men that he was supposed to arrest when ordered by the Inquisition to do so. He used to let them know in advance that they should flee, and received money for such service.
