Apology sent by António de Castro Pinto, a surgeon, to João Machado, a judge

The author apologizes for his behavior and asks the addressee to have mercy on him.

A group of individuals, a surgeon (the author of these letters), a judge, a carter and a farmer persecuted the New-Christians of Argozelo and seized their property disguised as Inquisition officials. The judge defended himself by accusing the surgeon, whose five letters were used by the Inquisition to build a case on him.
