In English

Request letter from José Soares, a worker, to his wife Escolástica Ribeiro.

The author tells his wife that he is in prison because of some things he said. He asks for socks and whatever is possible for her to send him.

José Soares, a very poor man with several debts, was accused of Judaism, heresy and apostasy and condemned to excommunion. He said that he could not read or write, but the letter to his wife was from his very hand.
