In English | Apology letter from José Baptista de Carvalho to António Lopes Lobo de Saldanha, the son of the governor of São Paulo. The author apologizes for taking so long to answer back to the addressee and send him the book he had asked. He also promises to send a lot of skins of 'guará' (a wolf) as soon as he hunts enough of them. The addressee, António Lopes Lobo de Saldanha was the son of the governor of São Paulo and had himself a position in the captaincy government. His father condemned to death a soldier for a crime against this same son and there were complaints about his behaviour: because he was perceived as a gambler and a bully, he didn't seem to deserve his position in the captaincy. |
