Addressee(s) Antonio de Acevedo
In English

Letter from Isabel Pérez to Luis de Acevedo, pseudonym of Antonio de Acevedo, a cattle dealer and a trader.

The author writes to her husband Luis de Acevedo, telling him how much she and their children miss him.

The defendant of this case is Antonio de Acevedo, native to Tordesillas (Valladolid), a cattle dealer and a trader. He was accused of bigamy for getting married twice: first to Isabel Perez in Tordehumos (Valladolid), with whom he had three children; and later to Elvira Rodríguez in Oaxaca (México). Antonio de Acevedo migrated to Mexico adopting the name of Luis de Acevedo, a first cousin who was single. The false identity allowed him to get married a second time in Oaxaca. He was punished to public whipping and condemned to serve in the galleys for the space of five years.
