[1702]. Carta de Filipa Maria para António de Castro Ribeiro.

Author(s) Filipa Maria
Addressee(s) António de Castro Ribeiro
In English

Request letter from Filipa Maria, the daughter of an attorney, to António de Castro Ribeiro.

The author asks the addressee to reply to her former letter, in which she was asking for travelling money.

The medicine doctor Manuel Soares Brandão was arrested by the Inquisition under the accusation of Judaism. He was apparently betrayed by Filipa Maria, an orphan who used to write to several Jewish people after her family was arrested, asking for money so that she could travel and join an uncle who lived far away. Her brother, a soldier, also made the same kind of requests.

If there is no translation for the letter itself, you may copy the text (while using the view 'Standardization') and paste it to an automatic translator of your choice.
