Author(s) | Cristóvão Vieira |
---|---|
Addressee(s) | João Rodrigues Coutinho |
In English | Private letter from Cristóvão Vieira, walker, to João Rodrigues Coutinho, priest . The author asks the recipient to provide a release order, and defends himself from the accusations that have been made about him. The defendant in this process is the hatter and walker Cristóvão Vieira, who was caught by the inquisitorial justice because he pretended to be a member of the Holy Office. Among the letters attached to the process, there are two documenting his practices, with different service requests. Another one was sent when he was already in jail in Viseu, prior to his entry into the prisons of the Inquisition of Coimbra, on November 27, 1719. This correspondence was voluntarily submitted by the defendant. |
