In English | Letter from Luis de Orejón de Acuña to his wife Lorenza de Baltanas. The author writes his wife to give her news about his life, and also to say her that he has not forgotten her and that he is at her service. In 1644, Lorenza de Baltanas was accused of witchcraft. She had been denounced by Felipe Lozano, who claimed that she had confessed it to his maid. Lorenza de Baltas, widow of Alfonso Gutiérrez, had a relationship with Cristóbal de Medina, with whom she wanted to get married, but he rejected her and married another woman. Afterwards, she married Luis de Orejón Acuña, but rumours had it that her relationship with Cristóbal had not ended. Lorenza resorted to a witch not to be rejected by Cristóbal, and he afterwards claimed that for this reason he had become impotent. Eventually, Cristóbal died and Lorenza was sentenced to three years of banishment and was reprehended. |
