1827. Carta de Maria Águeda da Encarnação para Manuel Góis, padeiro.

Author(s) Maria Águeda da Encarnação
Addressee(s) Manuel Góis
In English

Request letter from Maria Águeda da Encarnação, the wife of a landlord, to Manuel de Góis, a baker.

The author asks the addressee to tell the truth in court so that he won't harm her cause..

Pedro António da Silva, a baker and factory owner, was accused by a neighbour of offending the honour of his wife, Maria Águeda. He defended himself by accusing the same woman of constantly gossiping in the neighbourhood. He also offered a series of five letters intended to prove that the witnesses for the prosecution had been bought to give false testimony

If there is no translation for the letter itself, you may copy the text (while using the view 'Standardization') and paste it to an automatic translator of your choice.
