In English | Letter from Salamón Arrobas to Andrés Araújo and his son José Caetano Araújo. The author warns Andrés Caetano Araújo and his son José Caetano Araújo of the arrival of thieves to Lisbon. This process was filed against Abraão Blamo, a grocer from Salé (Africa), and Jacob Gavizon, a trader from Tetuan (Africa). Both defendants travelled from London to Gibraltar and from there to Lisbon in the English ship called Argrave of which the captain was Andre Caly. Upon arrival to Lisbon, the defendants were accused of Judaism and arrested by the Holy Office. There is not any mention in the process documentation on who delivered this letter, in which the author warns of the bad intentions the defendants had once they arrived in Lisbon and urges the addressee to advises the Holy Office about it. Both the defendant were expelled from Portugal. |
