In English | Provocation letter from João Batista de So., a Navy employee, to a non identified Navy lawyer. The author mocks the addressee and his constituent, for the imprisonment of the latter. He also insults the liberals. In the context of the liberal revolution, Joaquim José Oliveira was arrested for the forgery of two documents: two royal decrees sent to the President of the Royal Treasury and to the General of the Royal Navy. His accomplice, João Batista de So., was a royalist, not a liberal like him, so he denounced him and ran away to France. From his exile, he wrote two letters making fun of Joaquim José Oliveira and of his lawyer. |
