In English

Letter from Francisco Antonio Martínez, defendant, to Antonio Martínez, in charge of the illumination.

The author arranges a meeting with Francisco Martínez on the day he will be released from prison.

In August 1830, around half past eleven at night, Bento Cunhão, a native to Galicia, was found in Largo da Graça, lying down on the floor in an advanced state of inebriation. He was suspicious due to the fact he had in his pockets several documents, a letter from a prisoner from O Limoeiro and three hundred and forty reals. He was also carrying an old bill worth one hundred thousand reals, dated from 1822. Francisco Antonio Martínez, who was in charge of the lighting of the streets, was held prisoner in O Limoeiro and Bento Cunhão, as the messenger boy, had been tasked with the delivery of Francisco Antonio Martínez’s correspondence. The old bill worth one hundred thousand reals on behalf of «Morrogh e Walsh» is attached to the process files. Regarding Bento Cunhão, he is described as an average height man with brown hair and beard, blue eyes and long face.
