The author objects to the news that the addressee published on his paper concerning him and his expenses. He asks for his protest to be published and promises to make some precise accusations a week later.

António José de Miranda Júnior, a Lisbon trader, accused the journalist of the newspaper Mnemosine Constitucional, Pedro Alexandre Cavroé, of defamation. In fact, between September 1820 and June 1821, the paper was a propaganda weapon of the Constitutional regime.
