In English | Letter from Baltasar de Torres to his mother Catalina de Torres. The author lets his mother know he is receiving her letters and also warns her he is sending some silver and gold through several messengers. In 1564 Catalina de Torres, Diego Martínez´s wife and a resident of Guadalajara, sued her brother Melchor de Torres, from Alcalá de Henares, for twelve pesos their brother Baltasar had sent from Peru. Melchor answered he had received that amount from Baltasar to hand it to their mother, which he had done. In order to prove these facts, he presented several letters written by Baltasar de Torres from Peru. He also presented the letter in which their mother confirmed she had received the money. The court decided That Melchor had proved his case sufficiently and dismissed Catalina´s lawsuit. |
