1626. Carta de Diogo Fernandes, sapateiro e familiar do Santo Ofício, para Francisco Cunha, provisor e vigário-geral.

Autor(es) Diogo Fernandes
Destinatário(s) Francisco Cunha
In English

Private letter from Diogo Fernandes, shoemaker and familiar of the Inquisition, to Francisco Cunha, vicar-general.

The author reports his foray into other lands in search of fugitives from justice.

This case concerns Fernão Lopes Lameira and his wife Mécia Nunes, New Christians, born and residents in Guarda, that were accused of Judaism. Diogo Fernandes, a shoemaker, was a witness of Mécia Nunes escape, with her two daughters, Grácia and Joana Rodrigues. This was the reason why he was oficially sent to Castille, searching for Mécia Nunes and her family. He did not find them anywhere.
