António Monteiro dos Santos,a trader in Lisbon, was the owner of the ship «Bela Aliança», which was abandoned at sea by the crew for an unknown reason. The ship was rescued by an English captain, Wasp, and sailed to Gibraltar. The Portuguese consul in Gibraltar, José Agostinho Parral mediated the devolution of the ship to the owner.
