Private letter from Dom Afonso, prior, to Diogo de Sousa, inquisitor.
The author tells about the loss of some documents.
Dom Álvaro de Lima had been a canon in the monastery of Refóios (Ponte de Lima), but lived with Dona Leonor de Sá as his wife, which was the reason for this Inquisition process. Bartolomeu Pinto, a witness in the case, was in his way to the Inquisition of Coimbra when he was assaulted by the defendant himself, with the help of three other men, having to hand him over some supposedly incriminatory letters. The loss of these, together with other documents that were in the same pack, was later reported in the testimony of the witness and is also the subject of this letter.
