In English

Letter from Maria de Castro, seamstress, to Miguel de Torres Salinas, scribe.

María de Castro writes Miguel de Torres Salinas, apologizing for not having written him sooner.

The lawsuit was brought in 1661 by Felipe de Nogueira, mayor and governor of Santiago de Compostela, against María Castro and Miguel de Torres Salinas, for concubinage. María de Castro was a seamstress from Pontevedra; Miguel de Torres was a scribe from Villarcayo (Burgos). María de Castro moved to Santiago de Compostela accompanied by Mariana de Torres Salinas, sister of Miguel de Torres Salinas. In the process it was found that Miguel Torres Salinas, married to Jacilda Rodríguez, had a relationship with María de Castro, single. As stated in the proceedings, Miguel de Torres Salinas was obliged to pay 3,000 maravedís and to life with his wife; María de Castro was obliged to pay a Mark of silver and to stay away from Santiago de Compostela for two years.
