In English

Letter from Alonso de Aguilera to Íñigo López de Mondragón.

The author expresses to Íñigo López his disbelief for the Court´s judgment, since it accepted a letter as exhibit.

In 1555 Íñigo López de Mondragón, an account attorney from the Council of the Indies, brought an action against Alonso de Aguilera for 80 ducats of salary. Alonso Aguilera represented several townships (Concepción, Santiago and Serena) from the province of Chile on behalf of the crown. Upon his return to Spain, he delegated his representative functions in Íñigo López de Mondragón and proposed a salary which had not been paid in full, according to the plaintiff. In a first sentence, the Council considered that Íñigo de Mondragón had not proved his case sufficiently. However, in his appeal, he presented several letters from Alonso de Aguilera together with all the petitions he had made in the Council of the Indies on behalf of the aforementioned townships from Chile. In 1562, having gathered all that documentation, the Court found in Íñigo López´s favour and Alonso de Aguilera was condemned to pay the salaries.
