Instructions letter from Monsignor Lorenzo Caleppi, the papal nuncio, to the prior of the carmelite convent of Faial.

The author explains how the monks shall select, but not elect, the future prior of their convent.

Because a group of monks in the carmelite convent of Faial showed insubordination towards their prior, the papal nuncio had to take from them the rights of election.
