The defendant in this process is Francisco de Leão, merchant, Portuguese, 46, accused of being jewish and arrested in Madrid. This letter was written by his son-in-law, Manuel de Andrade, to a fellow merchant, Diego López. The recipient of the letter later told the Inquisition that he hardly knew the defendant. The content of the letter attests that he and Manuel de Andrade knew each other well.
