In English

Letter from [Manuel Benito de Guimil] to his father [José de Guimil].

The author writes his father José de Guimil, complaining because he has been accused of theft and explaining his version of the events.

The accused in this process (1745) were Manuel Benito de Guimil, from Santa María de Curro (Pontevedra), Antonio Negro, from Italy, and Francisca Antonia Martínez. The plaintiff was Antonio Ozores de Puga and Sotomayor, perpetual alderman of the town of Pontevedra. The three accused were working as servants in the house of Antonio Ozores de Puga, and he accused them of having forced locks and of having stolen 50 doubloons, lots of linen, jewellery, bread, wine and other things. After the enquiries, Antonio Negro, head of the robbery, was found in possession of the 50 doubloons (PS6057). The author of the letter, Manuel Benito de Guimil, confessed that he had stolen the linen (ten pillows and two linen curtains, among other things). Manuel Benito handed over to Manuela de Outeda, maid of José de Guimil, the letter here transcribed and a basket with the stolen linen, and asked her to carry it all to his father.
