Addressee(s) | Joaquim José de Oliveira |
In English | Provocation letter from João Batista de So., a Navy employee, to Joaquim José de Oliveira, an emplyee of the Royal Navy Council. The author rejoices on the imprisonment of the addressee. He defies him to get help from the liberals, since he has betrayed the royalists. In the context of the liberal revolution, Joaquim José Oliveira was arrested for the forgery of two documents: two royal decrees sent to the President of the Royal Treasury and to the General of the Royal Navy. His accomplice, João Batista de So., was a royalist, not a liberal like him, so he denounced him and ran away to France. From his exile, he wrote two letters making fun of Joaquim José Oliveira and of his lawyer. |
